Gear Up for a Great Getaway

The Best Beach Hacks

written by matthew brady

The shore is one of the best places to visit during the summer, but between the sand, sun, and surf, it can pose some serious challenges. However, if you’re properly prepared, beach trips can be smooth sailing. Use these hacks to help prevent any fiascos and experience the relaxation that you deserve!

  • Freeze water bottles.
Instead of packing ice packs to keep your food cold, freeze water bottles. Your food will stay cooler longer, and you’ll also have ice-cold water bottles to drink throughout the day.

  • Make aloe vera cubes.
Nothing can kill a beach trip quite like a painful sunburn. If your sunscreen application falls short, frozen aloe vera cubes can come to the rescue. Fill an ice cube tray with natural aloe vera juice, pop it into the freezer, and pack the frozen cubes in your cooler for surefire sunburn relief.

  • Track your sunscreen application.
It’s important to stay protected from the sun’s rays, so write the time on the bottle with permanent marker each time you reapply. It acts as a quick and easy reminder.

  • Keep valuables safe.
It’s quite easy to lose your keys and phone at the beach. Searching for a cost-effective holder? Consider cleaning out and using a plastic peanut butter jar! Your keys and phone will be stored safely, reducing the chance of a panic situation at the end of the day.

  • Tug to unplug.
If you are prone to getting water in your ears after swimming, tilt your head toward the blocked ear and pull your earlobe, which can help get the water out by straightening out your ear canal.

  • Save your creamer container.
When you’re done with that plastic coffee creamer container, don’t just throw it in the recycling bin! Instead, wash it out, remove the label, and use it to pack snacks. The smaller opening will let you munch on your favorites in perfect portions.

Help friends and family have fantastic vacations by sharing these helpful beach hacks.
