Road Trip Guide
Game On!
Kids are used to technology being ever present nowadays—so it can be particularly challenging to keep the kiddos from constantly being bored or grumpy on a road trip if batteries run low or Wi-Fi connection is poor.
Use a tried-and-true way to resolve the situation. For decades, games have been a trusted way to keep passengers, both young and old, entertained during a road trip. Try one of these games as a way to make the miles melt away!
I Spy
The first player chooses an object in the distance, and says, “I spy with my little eye, something…” and then inserts a clue, such as a color. Players then take turns guessing what the object is that was spied. The winner gets to take the next turn.
Yellow Car
Get everyone involved with this classic. Race to be the first person to spot a yellow car, and then call out, “Yellow car!” At the end of your trip, the person who spotted the most yellow cars is the winner.
Who Am I?
One person is secretly assigned a celebrity and must then guess who he or she is, asking only yes or no questions. The other people in the car answer the questions to give the player clues.
List Challenge
Pick a theme, such as a shopping list. Player 1 says an item that is on his or her list that starts with the letter “A.” Next, Player 2 must remember Player 1’s item, and then add another item, this one starting with the letter “B.” Keep going until they make it through the entire alphabet.
Create a road trip binder for your travels! Print out copies of classic challenging games like word searches and Hangman, and put them in one dedicated place so you have them handy when boredom strikes!
The vacation's over. Now find out how to make the memories last forever.
