Super Speed Scrabble

#

Materials:
  • 9 1” x 4” boards
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Chop saw or miter saw
  • Sanding block and 100- or 200- grit sandpaper
  • Damp cloth
  • Small, flat paintbrush
  • Black paint
  • Clear spray sealant
  1. Measure, mark, and cut the boards into 3¾-inch pieces. This will give you approximately 100 tiles.
  2. Once the pieces have been cut, begin sanding them on all sides. Use a damp cloth to wipe them clean.
  3. Using the small paintbrush, paint your letters on each piece with black paint. Use this printable letter template to make sure you have the correct amount of pieces for each letter.
  4. Once the paint is dry, spray with the clear spray sealant.
  5. To play, follow the traditional rules of Scrabble using your lawn as the board.

Life-Size Checkers

#

Materials:
  • 24 Frisbees
  • Red spray paint
  • Black spray paint
  • 12" x 12" light-colored outdoor rug
  • Painter’s tape
  • Measuring tape
  • Trash bags (optional)
  1. In a well-ventilated area, spray paint your Frisbees—twelve red and twelve black. Once the paint has dried, add a second coat, if necessary.
  2. Roll out the rug and, using the painter’s tape, create a grid of 18” x 18” squares.
  3. Spray paint every other square black, and allow the squares to dry. Tip: Use trash bags to cover the squares you’re not painting black. This will protect them from getting any spray paint on them.
  4. Follow the traditional rules of checkers to play.
