Holiday Truffle Recipes

written by matthew brady photography by shana smith

There’s nothing quite like the melt-in-your-mouth satisfaction of truffles, which are especially prevalent during the holiday season, both on the table and as gifts for loved ones. That’s a stark contrast to the origin of truffles, which were first invented in late-nineteenth-century Europe. Named after the mushroom they resembled, these confections were only available to the upper class and thus were, in essence, not only a decadent treat but also a status symbol.

Fortunately, truffles are more ubiquitous today, and, in fact, you can even make your own with a little creativity in the kitchen. This season, treat your guests to these holiday-inspired truffles—the excitement is sure to be palpable for these popables!
