A Healthy Summer Harvest

Now that you have an overview of what summer produce is available, it’s time to get creative with it! These tasty recipes offer some great ways to enhance your fresh fruit-and-vegetable experience even more this summer.
Honey-Cinnamon Grilled Cantaloupe
Perfect either as a dessert or delicious side dish, this grilled cantaloupe recipe will sweeten your summertime menu. (Or try grilled peaches or mangoes—they’re just as tasty!)
Ingredients:
- 1 cantaloupe, cubed
- ⅓ c. honey
- ¼ c. butter
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar

- Heat grill to high. Cut cantaloupe into 2-inch cubes, and slide onto metal skewers.
- Combine honey, butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a saucepan, and melt. Brush onto cantaloupe.
- Place skewers on grill, and cook for 1–2 minutes per side.
- Remove, and serve with remaining honey-cinnamon sauce. Serves about 6-8
Refreshing Fruit Punch
Nothing beats watermelon on a hot summer day, and this refreshing punch features a double dose with its fun watermelon “bowl.”
- Cut ⅓ of the watermelon off the top, and hollow out the inside.
- Puree the chunks of watermelon you remove, and then press through a strainer to make the juice. (Tip: You may find it helpful to do this in several batches.)
- In the watermelon bowl, combine the sparkling water, pineapple juice, and watermelon juice. Stir to mix. Refrigerate at least an hour before serving. Serves about 8-10
Garlic-Old Bay Corn on the Cob
Add some heat to this summer staple—it’s just one of many mouthwatering ways you can get creative with corn.
Ingredients:
- 4–6 ears of corn, shucked
- Olive oil
- 4 tbsp. salted butter, softened
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- ¼ tsp. Old Bay seasoning

- Drizzle corn with olive oil, wrap in foil, and grill for 15-20 minutes over medium heat, rotating occasionally, before removing from the grill.
- In a small bowl, combine softened salted butter, garlic, and Old Bay seasoning.
- Spread onto hot corn with a basting brush. Sprinkle with extra Old Bay, if desired. Serves about 4-6
