Crafting Memories

written by matt brady photography by shana smith

We always wish that vacation fun could last forever. The next best thing, though, is to make the memories last forever. But why let the fun end when the vacation does? Add a creative twist to your road trip memories with this trio of terrific ideas—they’ll not only keep the memories frozen in time but also add a layer of fun to the trip itself!

  Vacation Memory Jar

A beautiful way to display your favorite vacation trinkets, this craft will “jar” your vacation memories every time you look at it!

Directions

Find a glass jar of your liking. Collect items from your vacation, such as beach sand or seashells, place them inside the jar, and then seal by closing the lid.

  Travel Journal

This scrapbook-style memory book only requires a few simple items from your vacation and a flair for creativity to make a treasured travel keepsake.

Directions

Collect postcards during your vacation, and write a note or an anecdote on each while the fun is fresh in your mind. After your trip, create a scrapbook using the postcards and vacation photos.

  Map Shadow Box

Creating a shadow box is an eye-catching way to make a permanent display of your vacation for all to enjoy.

Directions

Line the back of the shadow box with a map from where you went on vacation, and then fill it with small items from your trip, such as key chains, seashells, and ticket stubs.

Try your hand at one of these memory-preserving crafts, and share photos of your creation on social media using the hashtag #ALMcreate.
