Pepperoni Pizza Twists

In recent years, pizza has taken a slice out of movie concessions as a heartier, more meal-like option for cinema buffs (saving many the necessity of eating out before or after the film). Now, with this twist on this classic Italian favorite, you can make delicious, finger-licking versions that are perfect for the at-home movie experience!

Ingredients
  • 1 pound of pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 6 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese
  • 4 ounces pepperoni
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Sauce of choice, such as marinara or ranch

Print Recipe
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Lightly flour a large cutting board. Roll out the dough, forming a rectangle.
  3. In a bowl, combine the garlic powder, parsley, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes. Sprinkle about half of the mixture onto the dough.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese onto half of the dough, and top with pepperoni. (Note: If you’re using full-sized pepperoni, cut them into quarters first.) Fold the dough over, covering the filling.
  5. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, carefully cut the dough into thin strips. Twist the strips several times, and then press the ends down on a baking sheet to hold the shape.
  6. Brush the twists with olive oil, and sprinkle with the seasoning blend.
  7. Turn the twists over on the baking sheet, again pressing down on the ends. Sprinkle with olive oil and the remaining seasoning blend.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the twists are a golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with your choice of sauce.
