Frights and Fun: A Halloween Celebration

Spook Your Neighbor

written by alexa bricker

One of the best parts of living in a community is the ability to celebrate special occasions together. And while Halloween may not be the first big holiday that comes to mind, it certainly has a place in neighborhoods across America—with trick-or-treating, parades, and parties being popular ways to celebrate.

Sadly, like many other things this year, these celebrations likely won’t be the same. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to come together. This creative “spook your neighbor” craft is the perfect way to get your neighborhood in the Halloween spirit—while maintaining your distance.

Materials:
  • Basket/bag
  • Halloween treats
(e.g., candy, toys, decorations, miniature pumpkins)
  • “Spook your neighbor” printables

  1. Print and cut out the letter template, treat tags, and door banner.
  2. Fill a basket or bag with Halloween goodies of your choice, and attach the printable treat tags. Be sure to also include the “You’ve Been Spooked” letter and door banner in the basket.
  3. Drop off the basket at a neighbor’s house (try not to let them see you—that’s half the fun!), and watch the Halloween spirit spread throughout the neighborhood!

Help your neighbors get into the spooky spirit by passing along a gift basket full of Halloween goodies.
